INTERVIEW (+ Giveaway!): Vanshika Prusty, Elly Ha, & Megan Manzano on KEEP FAITH

Good morning, everyone!

Happy Labor Day, if you’re in the United States, and thanks so much for stopping by the blog today!

Today, I am joined by authors Vanshika Prusty, Elly Ha, and Megan Manzano in conversation about the anthology the three are in, along with 11 other fabulous authors. The four of us are here today to talk not only about the collection itself, but also the way it came about, the authors’ individual stories, and the particular challenges that came with writing about faith, and much more!

So, please enjoy the interview, and don’t forget to enter for a chance to win a copy of the anthology for yourself!

47779089._SY475_Keep faith, in the broad sense of the word. It doesn’t have to be a religion, unless you want it to be. It doesn’t have to speak about the universe, unless you want it to. It doesn’t have to be about anyone but yourself. Keep faith, in other planets and other houses; be it in the face of danger, grief, or while you spread your arms and laugh. Keep faith the same way you keep hope, bright and shiny, ever present. Keep faith in all your queer, beautiful self. Because you deserve it.

This is an anthology of 14 short stories, by 14 queer authors, where faith and queerness intersect. Incidental, purposeful, we-exist-and-that’s-why queerness. And faith meaning whatever you want it to mean.

Today, I have author Claudie Arseneault here to talk about the Common Bonds Anthology that she’s editing, along with fellow authors C.T. Callahan, RoAnna Sylver, and B. R. Sanders. The four of them have put their efforts into creating a collection of speculative fiction short stories and poems, all featuring aromantic main characters!

Submissions are currently open, and they are running a Kickstarter until the end of March to raise funds to produce the anthology, pay the authors, and everything that goes into producing a wonderful product!

So check out the interview below, support the Kickstarter (if you can!), and submit your work for consideration!

BLOG TOUR: Character Interview with Emilie & Alex of Graham’s Delicacies by Em Ali

Good morning, all, and welcome to my stop on the GRAHAM’S DELICACIES blog tour!

I’m so honored to host an interview today with Emilie and Alex, the two nonbinary bakers in Em Ali’s short stories collection, Graham’s Delicacies! Em and Alex were two of my favorite characters in this book, so I jumped at the chance to talk with them!

Now, before we get into the interview, I’m going to quickly share the blurbs for the three stories, and then we’ll get down to it! And be sure to keep on scrolling past the end of the interview to see Em Ali’s bio as well as some additional information about the collection!

graham-delicacies-coverSix people and three love stories all in one bakery.

Jen goes to work, agonizes over college, and looks forward to the stolen moments in the kitchen, where she can watch Emilie bake love into every donut, cake, and brownie. Their delicate friendship takes a step towards a budding romance. But will Jen’s impulsiveness help their romance surviving its first hurdle?

James has never been kissed but he wants to, especially by Sam, who he can’t talk to without turning into a little jerk, and who is made of all the good stuff. Will James’ insecurity in his inexperience ever allow him to make the move to kiss the boy?

Alex won’t let some foodie with a video camera bash their beloved bakery, even if it means they have to be petty. Except they’re nowhere ready for Yujin, the one who got away, and the one attempting to woo them. Will Alex’s second impression of Yujin let them see the sincerity in the bashful king.

THE RHYTHM OF LIFE: An Interview with Twisted Wishes

LEAH: Good morning, everyone! Today, we’ve got some exciting guests! Everyone’s favorite Queer Squad–Twisted Wishes! *mimics cheering noises* Thanks so much for agreeing to come by, y’all!

Ray: Hey, it’s no problem at all.

Others: *make agreement noises*

LEAH: Let’s start with your basic interview question. *laughs* Are y’all currently working on anything new? Anything you can tell us about?

Ray: *looks coy*

Zavier: *rolls his eyes at Ray*

Mish: Ray’s always working on something new. He’s got pages and pages of notes and shit in that little black book of his.

Domino: Most people have phone numbers in little black books…

Zavier: Ray only needs my number, if he wants a good time…

Ray: *blushes* Hey! Phones are for phone numbers. And there’s nothing little about my black book, sheesh. But yeah, there’s always new stuff in the works. Plus rehearsing for touring and all that.

Zavier, to Ray: So you don’t want a good time?

Ray: I– You– This is how all the rumors about us on the internet get started, you know.

Zavier: *just smiles*

PRACTICAL MAGIC: An Interview with Brooklyn Ray

LEAH: Hi hi, Brooklyn! It’s so great to have you back!

BROOKLYN: I’m so glad to be here! Thank you for having me.

LEAH: Okay, so. Today, we’re here to talk magic and every day witch life. To start off, can you talk a little bit about how you were introduced to witchcraft and how you came to realize it was important to your life?

BROOKLYN: I started practicing when I was really young. I bought my first book, a Llewellyn title, from my local Borders when I was in seventh grade. It was actually confiscated by the principal at my private Christian school. I kept doing research and reading at the bookstore and library whenever I could. Once I entered high school, I bought more books, got my own grimoire and did my first spell in the desert hills behind my house. It was intense and new. After that I did more research into my family history. My mother’s maiden name is Llewellyn, and I found out that we were Welsh and had some magic in our blood. Quite a thing for a young witch to learn. When I was in my late teens my friends and I started dabbling in… Well, we’ll say heavier magic. It was a wild ride. I miss being as reckless, curious and just… So charged with power as I was back then. It was truly a magical time in my life.

WRITER WEDNESDAY: An Interview with Ana Mardoll

Good morning, all!

Today’s special guest is the lovely Ana Mardoll! Xie is a dear friend who has, happily, taken some time out of xer schedule to stop by and talk with me!

You may remember my review of the short story collection NO MAN OF WOMAN BORN (if not, the title there has a handy link, so do the clickity click!), and if so, then you may recall that Ana is the the author of the collection. It’s a great bunch of stories about trans and/or nonbinary people taking on the myths and fairy tales we’ve grown up with, and it has a special place in my heart.

So today, I talk to Ana a bit about NMOWB as well as xer other novels and characters!

REBOOT BLOG TOUR: A Tiny Piece of Something Greater by Jude Sierra

Good morning, everyone!

If you follow my blog, you know I don’t usually post on the weekends, but today, I’ve made a special exception! Due to some personal things that were going on around the release, Jude Sierra didn’t get to really promote her book A TINY PIECE OF SOMETHING GREATER, a story of romantic love and learning to love yourself. So! Jude has decided to do a reboot tour, and when she asked me, I simply could not say no as I absolutely adored this book.

37830506Reid Watsford has a lot of secrets and a past he can’t quite escape. While staying at his grandmother’s condo in Key Largo, he signs up for introductory dive classes, where he meets Joaquim Oliveira, a Brazilian dive instructor with wanderlust. Driven by an instant, magnetic pull, what could have been just a hookup quickly deepens. As their relationship evolves, they must learn to navigate the challenges of Reid’s mental illness on their own and with each other.

Thus, today, she’s dropped by for an interview! I hope you enjoy, because I had a lot of fun with it!

Also, at the end of the post, I will include a graphic and links to the other blogs participating in the tour!
